In 1897 the Kyiv Seed Testing Laboratory, which had officially used seed normatives in Ukraine for the first time, was created by prof. P.R. Slyozkin at the Society for Stimulating Farming and Rural Industry. Since 1998, on the basis of the Ukrainian State Seed Inspectorate, the Authority for Certifying Seed of Cultivated Crops is created, it is a plenipotentiary of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in the International Seed Testing Association (ISTA) and a full member of the Association. Inspectorate’s Head is designated Ukraine’s Chief governmental inspector in charge of Seed Production, Head of the Authority for Certifying Seed of Cultivated crops.
